Gaisce
Gaisce – The President’s Award is a self-development programme for young people aged 14-25. It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, to all young people to dream big and realise their potential. It’s mission is to provide a positive youth development programme that encourages and rewards young people to discover their passions and challenge themselves, positively impacting themselves and the world around them. Gaisce Participants achieve a Gaisce Award by completing Challenge Areas: Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, Community Involvement, and an Adventure Journey. President’s Award Leaders deliver, guide and support Gaisce Participants undertaking the Award. In Presentation Secondary School we have students completing Bronze and Silver levels in TY and 5th year. We also have a couple of students completing the Gold Level in University at present. The PALs in our school are Ms E.Dooley, Ms L. Dowling and Mr R. Chaney. Gaisce – The President’s Award was established in 1985 to mark the UN’s International Year of Youth and was launched in Áras an Uachtaráin by President, Dr. Patrick J. Hillery, Gaisce’s founding patron. Gaisce is recognised as Ireland’s national youth award and is the highest recognition of a young person’s achievement and voluntary contribution
