All students are welcome to join Athletics, whether they are members of Athletics Clubs outside of school, or just want to take up the sport to enjoy it and keep fit.
Athletics training takes place twice each week, during lunchtime or after school. Each training session is varied to cover sprints, distance running, relays, circuit training and field events.
Time trials are carried out at different points during the year so that the students can track their progress.
Presentation Secondary School has a long history with athletic success and a number of our past pupils have competed for Ireland internationally.
We are very proud in particular of two past pupils who went on to compete in the Olympic Games after their time in Presentation Secondary School; Sinéad Delahunty (1500m in Atlanta, 1996 and Sydney, 2000) and Ciara Everard (800m in Rio, 2016).
In recent years, our athletes have won medals in both the South Leinster and Leinster Championships in Cross Country and Track & Field events. A number of those athletes went on to compete in the All-Ireland Track & Field Championships which take place in June each year.
